a work reflecting upon the resilience of the Australian landscape across millenia

  • Acacia, by emerging composer Aksuna (Natasha Lin), responds to the continuity of the Australian landscape, shifting over the course of millenia.

Performed by guitar duo Matt Withers & Callum Henshaw, Aksuna’s work is inspired by the acacia family of plants and their resistance to fire and drought.  The word has been lovingly adopted as a symbol of Australian resilience - in Aksuna’s work, acacia also represents the many lands that have been taken and moulded by colonisation - but also a land that is giving and breathing.

Aksuna currently lives in Berlin, but in Australia calls Melbourne (Naarm) home.
