nat bartsch trio
to sail, to sing

AMI004
(formerly NBT002)
released 4 June 2013

nat bartsch trio’s final release, featuring several leading melbourne jazz artists

  • After a break from band leading her trio, pianist Nat Bartsch re-formed her popular Melbourne jazz trio in 2013: this time, with Daniel Farrugia (The Bamboos, The Cat Empire, Luke Howard Trio) on drums and Tom Lee (Michelle Nicole, Cannonball) on double bass. The resulting trio sound retains the same ECM-inspired spaciousness, but with stronger rhythmic elements.

In this special crowdfunded album release, Nat showcased several new compositions - as well as putting her unique meditative spin on arrangements of Radiohead and Gotye.

The trio is joined by two special guests, both of whom are inimitably lyrical, beautiful improvisers: vocalist Gian Slater and tenor saxophonist Keiran Hensey.
